Absentee parents is not an education problem

And neither are parents that don’t value education or who are neglectful. On the surface you might think they are but as a teacher I can’t control what doesn’t happen in my classroom, nor can my principal control what doesn’t happen in the halls or can the superintendent can control what doesn’t happen on school grounds.

Teachers don’t write tickets, principals can’t arrest and the superintendent doesn’t write the laws.

Absentee, neglectful and ignorant parents who don’t value education are societal issues and society is the one who needs to step up and say enough is enough.

Schools and teachers can only control what they can control and it is just plain wrong to blame them for things that they can’t.
