The disconnect between Ashley Juarez Smith, candidate district 3, and public education grows

Consider these facts:

She told Shannon Ogden she worked at an independent school for 5 years. That independent school turned out to be Boles. Her hiding this fact not her working there is the big deal to me.

She works for the Chartrand foundation. The Chartrand foundation wants to privatize public education and is for corporate minded reform. Gary Chartrand doesn’t believe in experience or smaller classes and he likes standardized testing and merit pay. This is a bit unnerving as he is undoubtedly her mentor.

She raised 84 thousand dollars last quarter, almost double what every other candidate raised combined and much of this came from families that sent their kids to private school. Yes I am a bit jealous but that doesn’t change the fact her supporters have never been public school supporters.

She reported a net worth of nearly three million dollars. Wow, impressive but I don’t think her experiences mirror what the typical kid in public school.

Mrs. Juarez-Smith has undoubtedly been successful but numerous red flags are being raised and I think it is fair at this point to question her motives.
