Some things the Times Union didn’t mention about the Broad foundation.

Their whole mission is to replace professional educators with people from the business world or military so they can bring corporate reforms to urban school districts, high stakes testing, merit pay, vouchers, charter schools and an end to last hired first fired among others.

They don’t believe in open governance recommending that major decisions be made behind closed doors and that the board always vote 7-0.

Recently several school districts, Seattle Washington, Rockford Illinois, and Rochester New York have forced out their broad hires after allegations of mismanagement, autocratic leadership styles, and/or the pursuit of unpopular policies.

And finally Joey Wise, the superintendent that the district bought out after just two years was a Broad school graduate.
